Where to Store Your Boat in Incline Village: A Complete Guide for Lake Tahoe Homeowners

Finding boat storage in Incline Village

By Carson Long, Incline Village Realtor | Mizak Mountain Luxury Team | COMPASS | Incline Village’s #1 Team in 2025

One of the big questions I get from buyers (who own a boat) that are new to Incline Village is some version of: “I have a boat. Where do I put it?” It’s a genuinely important question, and the answer isn’t as simple as it sounds.

Incline Village does not allow trailers to be parked on residential streets (although it does happen). Many HOAs prohibit storing boats or trailers on your property. And Lake Tahoe’s water, at 6,229 feet elevation, is a precious resource with strict environmental protections that govern how and where you can launch. If you own a boat and you’re buying a home here, or if you’re already a resident figuring out your options… this guide covers everything you need to know.

FIRST: THE TAHOE INSPECTION REQUIREMENT

Before we talk storage, there’s one thing every boat owner at Lake Tahoe needs to understand. All watercrafts entering Lake Tahoe must have a valid Lake Tahoe inspection seal before launching. This applies whether you’re trailering in from Reno, bringing a boat up from the Bay Area, or launching after winter storage. The inspection is designed to prevent aquatic invasive species… particularly Quagga Mussels, Zebra Mussels, and Golden Mussels from entering the lake.

If your boat doesn’t have a current seal, you will not be allowed to launch. Period. Inspection stations are operated by the Tahoe Resource Conservation District. Visit TahoeBoatInspections.com for locations, hours, and fees before you plan your first day on the water.

Non-motorized watercraft can also carry invasive species and are required to display an Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) decal for all Nevada waters. Plan accordingly.

THE IVGID DIAMOND PEAK BOAT STORAGE LOT

For Incline Village homeowners with an IVGID Recreation Pass, the most convenient seasonal storage option is the IVGID Watercraft Parking Pass program. Assigned spots are located on Ski Way, directly below Diamond Peak Ski Resort — a short drive from the private IVGID beaches and Ski Beach boat ramp.

2026 Pricing:

  • Standard spots: $1,050 for the full season (or $210/month)
  • Premier spots: $1,300 for the full season (or $260/month)

A few important things to know about this program: passes are limited and available only to IVGID Recreation Pass holders. You must register in person at the Incline Village Recreation Center and complete a Seasonal Watercraft Parking Pass contract. Spots go on sale May 1 and fill quickly — if this is your preferred option, don’t wait.

When parking, IVGID requires you to back in over your assigned number with the center of your trailer over the number and center line. It’s well-organized and the location is genuinely convenient for residents who launch regularly at Ski Beach.

For pricing and registration details, contact the Incline Village Recreation Center directly or visit yourtahoeplace.com.

INCLINE BOAT STORAGE & MARINE

If you want full-service, year-round storage with mechanical support, Incline Boat Storage & Marine is the go-to option on the Nevada side of the lake. They’ve been a family-owned operation since 1989 and are the only fully enclosed storage facility and Mercury/MerCruiser service dealer on the Nevada side of Lake Tahoe.

Location: 875 Oriole Way, Incline Village, NV 89451 — about half a mile from Ski Beach.

What they offer:

  • Fully enclosed indoor storage in a 22,000 square foot metal building
  • Partially enclosed outdoor storage
  • Year-round trailer storage
  • Full mechanical services including MerCruiser, Volvo Penta, and OMC certified mechanics
  • Launch and retrieval services
  • In-house fiberglass repair
  • Parts and accessories

The key advantage here over the IVGID lot is the mechanical service. If you need winterization, engine work, or fiberglass repairs done on-site, Incline Boat Storage handles all of it. Your boat never leaves the Lake Tahoe area — all storage is on-site, which matters for the inspection seal process. They serve clients from Tahoe, Reno, Carson City, and as far as the Bay Area.

Phone: (775) 831-5625 Hours: Monday–Sunday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Spots at Incline Boat Storage fill up during peak season, so calling ahead to reserve space before summer is strongly recommended.

CRYSTAL BAY MARINE

Located between Incline Village and Kings Beach, Crystal Bay Marine is another well-regarded option in the immediate area. They offer full-service winterization, indoor dry stack storage, and summer launch and retrieval services. For residents on the eastern end of Incline Village or Crystal Bay, this is a geographically convenient alternative to hauling to Oriole Way.

Crystal Bay Marine is particularly useful if you want a more hands-off approach to boat management — drop it off, have it serviced, and have it ready when you want it.

SIERRA BOAT COMPANY (CARNELIAN BAY)

A short drive west along the North Shore, Sierra Boat Company in Carnelian Bay is one of the most well-established full-service marina and storage operations on Lake Tahoe. They offer indoor and outdoor dry storage, valet launch services, mechanical repairs, winterization, and detailing.

Sierra Boat has a strong reputation among North Shore boaters and is worth considering if Incline-based options are full or if you’re looking for a higher level of concierge service. The drive from central Incline Village is about 20–25 minutes.

TAHOE VISTA AND NORTH SHORE MARINA OPTIONS

The North Shore has several additional marina-adjacent storage options clustered around Tahoe Vista and Kings Beach, all within a reasonable drive of Incline Village. These tend to offer a mix of outdoor lot storage and dry stack facilities, and some include valet launch services during peak season. If you’re flexible on location and the Incline-based options are full, it’s worth calling around to marinas in this corridor before the season starts.

HOMEWOOD HIGH & DRY MARINA (WEST SHORE)

If you’re open to driving further for the right facility, Homewood High & Dry Marina on the West Shore offers launch services and storage for North Shore boaters. It’s a longer haul from Incline Village — about 40 minutes — but they accommodate boaters from across the lake and are a solid option when closer storage is sold out.

WHAT ABOUT STORING YOUR BOAT AT HOME?

Some properties in Incline Village have the space to store a boat on-site — typically larger lots in neighborhoods like The Woods or Mill Creek where there’s room for a side yard or detached garage setup. However, this is highly property-specific and governed by both Washoe County regulations and, if applicable, your HOA’s CC&Rs.

PLANNING AHEAD: THE MOST IMPORTANT THING

The consistent theme across every storage option in Incline Village is this: the best spots fill early. Whether you’re targeting the IVGID Diamond Peak lot, Incline Boat Storage, or one of the marina facilities along the North Shore, calling or registering in April — before the May rush — is the difference between getting your preferred spot and scrambling all summer.

If you’re purchasing a home in Incline Village and boat storage is part of your lifestyle plan, bring it up early in our conversations. It affects which properties make sense for your situation and what to look for in HOA documents and lot configurations. It’s one of those details that’s easy to overlook during the excitement of a home search and becomes very real the first summer you own the boat.
